Dayak Benu'aq Guardian Figure Powerful anthropomorphic statue collected from the Dayak Benu'aq tribes of east Borneo during the 90's, in such hampatong the spirit of ancestors are invoked for protection, placed in front of the long communal house entrance or other specially chosen places where malevolent spirits are likely to appear. The protuberant tongue is specially designed to bring fear amongs enemies stepping inside the community and it is also a symbol of rejection of any kind of disease.
